Teen To Give Away $500,000 That He Won!

A Michigan teenager who won a whopping $500,000 jackpot on a scratch-off ticket says he's going to give away most of the money that he won - to his parents!

The 19-year-old man spent $10 on a lottery ticket at a Williamstown, Michigan, Sunoco brand gas station near the city of Lansing. It turned out to be a $500,000 winner. For most people, that's a life-changing amount of money. Now, this will be a life-changing amount for his parents.

"I stopped at the Sunoco for gas and they had one Golden Wild Time ticket left, so I bought it," the teen told the Michigan Lottery.

He scratched it off right there in the store and at first he thought they were playing a trick on him until he saw how excited the store employees were about the winning ticket.

The 19-year-old has chosen to remain anonymous. Friday, he claimed his prize from the state and said that he's going to keep a fraction of the winnings for himself. He added that he will take $5,000 to invest and then give the rest to his parents.

"My parents have done so much for my sister and me. Helping them takes a big weight off of their shoulders and mine," he enthused.
