United Airlines is dealing with its latest public relations nightmare following the death of a french bulldog that they forced into a overhead bin.
After barking for a couple of hours in the overhead bin, Kokito, the dog belonging to Catalina Robledo died. Under Illinois law, where the airline is based, the woman could not only get the value of the animal but money for "emotional distress suffered by the owner." In addition, the dog owner could get up to $25,000 in punitive damages if a jury determines the dog died from abuse or neglect on the part of the flight attendant.
Should there be a safer, more efficient way to fly pets? Would you pay extra for a way that guarantees your pet will arrive safely?
