College Student With Autism Is Graduating With Two Degrees

History will be made this weekend when Johnathon Vermaelen graduates from the University of St. Thomas.

Johnathon is the first student with autism to graduate from the university with a double major.

As a child, he was diagnosed with autism but worked through the challenges of his disorder to earn his degree in criminology and political science.

He stated that having autism has both positives and negatives when it comes to higher education.

" Well, autism gives me the intelligence of a super computer but the social skills of a rock."

After graduation he hopes to earn his paralegal certificate before eventually going to law school become a lawyer.
