Wife Gives Husband DNA Kit & Learns She’s Married To Her 1st Cousin!

Well, This Is Awkward.

An anonymous letter sent to the podcast Dear Prudence by a woman whose world was turned upside down when she gave her husband the gift of a DNA kit.

She wrote, “My husband and I grew up in the same small town. We have a two-year-old son. For a birthday present, I got both of us an ancestry kit. I wish to God I never came up with the idea.”

What she thought would be a fun way to celebrate turned into a nightmare when the results came back and revealed they are first cousins.

The woman says she and her husband are now sleeping separately.

Although she didn't explicitly say in her letter, she seems to believe her mother-in-law had an affair with one of her uncles, which resulted in her husband's birth.

'This secret is poisoning my marriage, and I am terrified it will blow up the rest of our family.'

Marriage between first cousins is legal in about half the states in the U.S.

Some allow first cousins to marry if there will be no offspring from those unions, while others only permit them under special circumstances.

You think you have family drama?

We wish them all the best!
