Here Are All The Airlines Offering Fee Waivers Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

If you have concerns regarding travel oversees then you are not alone. With Spring and Summer time gearing up, plenty of people have travel plans unfolding soon. Unfortunately, concerns for the coronavirus, a recent global epidemic, have been on the rise and with good reason. Multiple illnesses and fatalities have been confirmed. Coronavirus is not just one illness, it is a large collection of viruses including SARS and MERS (known to have killed thousands over the last couple of decades) that attack the respiratory system. Travelers have raised their concerns and many are trying to figure out how to possibly refund their trip. Traveling is not cheap, airlines know this and are now working with passengers to offer fee waivers in case some do want to get a raincheck on their vaycay.

  • United Airlines will be offer fee waivers to passengers who wish to change any flight going to Northern Italy (as of 2/27 there have been 650 confirmed cases and 14 deaths in Italy). Passengers will be able to choose an alternate flight without incurring fees. Waivers will only apply to tickets that were purchased by February 26th, 2020.
  • Delta Airlines will over travel waivers to passengers scheduled to fly to Italy. Those traveling to Bologna (BLQ), Milan (either LIN or LXP) and Venice (VCE) will not incur a fee as long as their flight is rescheduled and booked by March 31st. Passengers also have the option to cancel flight and use paid credit towards future travel within a year.
  • JetBlue will drop cancellation and rebooking fees for trips booked between Feb. 27 and March 11, 2020 -- for travel through June 1, 2020. Those who cancel will receive full travel credit that can be used within a year of refund.
  • Alaska Airlines will drop cancellation and rebooking fees for trips booked between Feb. 27 and March 12, 2020. Those who cancel will receive full travel credit that can be used within a year of refund.
