After Coronavirus Cancels Prom, Their Community Brings Prom To Them

Coronavirus has canceled may high school proms across the country, but the students at Carlisle High School in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, weren't going to let that stop them from making memories of a lifetime.

Pennsylvania resident Preston Griffin gathered a DJ, pickup truck, and a group of local business to create a special night for Carlisle High students.

Prom-goers enjoyed a night of socially-distanced fun from their front yards with music, dancing, and donated items from the local businesses. Florist shops provided corsages, boutonnieres and bouquets, Burger King donated their signature crowns as props, and Chick-fil-A donated meal vouchers.

Over 70 students signed up to be a part of "Prom on Wheels" and it sounds like it was quite the hit!

After all the dancing was done, prom-goers got in their vehicles and created a parade of cars that reached 15 long!

Student Heidi Heinlein said "It was such a magical moment and it really brightened my day" and senior Sydney Harrell said "This is hands down the best prom ever. It was so wonderful to drive up and see friends you haven't seen since school suddenly ended."

Griffin told ABC News that "We want them to feel celebrated in what might seem like a season of loss. They are all queens and kings for the evening. The Class of 2020 is incredibly resilient and they have continued to adapt to the times. They really can do anything and it is important to celebrate them with hope and let them know they are not forgotten."
