Disneyland Reopening Delayed

We've all been anxiously waiting for Disneyland to reopen so we can celebrate the magic once again.

Sadly, Walt Disney Co. announced Wednesday in a statement that Disneyland's reopening will be delayed beyond July 17. As of now an alternative date has not been specified.

Disney said part of the reason they aren't reopening in mid July is because they're waiting for state guidelines. The company said "California has now indicated that it will not issue theme park reopening guidelines until sometime after July 4." This doesn't allow them enough time to recall their employees and prepare the two Anaheim theme parks, Disneyland and California Adventure, as needed.

Disney said “Once we have a clearer understanding of when guidelines will be released, we expect to be able to communicate a reopening date.”

If you still want to get in on some of the Disney magic, the Downtown Disney shopping and restaurant district is still set to reopen July 9.

Govenor Gavin Newsom's office offered their support for the delay. In a statement, spokesman Nathan Click said “The governor appreciates Disney’s responsiveness to his concerns about reopening amid the recent increases in COVID-19 infections across many Southern California counties. The state and our public health experts continue to be in contact with the company and their workers — as well as other theme parks in the state — as we track and combat the spread of the virus.”

Even though we're sad we won't be roaming through the park as soon as we'd like, we're glad they're keeping everyone's safety a priority!
