Southwest Airlines Will Keep Middle Seats Open Through Thanksgiving!

If you are planning to travel this Thanksgiving and still haven't booked your flight yet, this is something you may want to keep in mind.

Southwest Airlines will continue to practice social distancing on their flights through Thanksgiving. They will leave middle seats open on their planes through November 30th. Originally, the policy was set to end on October 31st. The airlines began this new practice at the start of the pandemic to make sure all their visitors were practicing social distancing and feeling as safe as possible while flying. Jet Blue, Alaska and Delta have also kept middle seats open through the coronavirus pandemic.

Ryan Green, Southwest's chief marketing officer stated:

"As we transition into autumn and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday season, we want Southwest customers to have the confidence of knowing that middle seats will remain open through Nov. 30 to accommodate their fall travel plans. Southwest has been operating flights with middle seats open throughout the summer and has added thousands of flights to in-demand destinations to provide extra seats for on-board physical distancing and added comfort."
