Price Of Costco Hot Dogs Possibly Changing Caused Controversy

People are very passionate about their Costco food court, including their hot dogs! They've been cheap over the years due to some hard work.... and a threat.

According to an article from 2018 that was recently going viral on Twitter, people were shocked by a certain threat surrounding the price of hot dogs from the Costco co-founder. CEO W. Craig Jelinek told co-founder, and then CEO Jim Sinegal that the price of the hot dogs needed to change because they were losing money by selling the $1.50 hot dog and soda combo.

The price hasn't been raised since 1985! Jelineck recalled saying to Jim Sinegal "I came to (Jim Sinegal) once and I said, ‘Jim, we can’t sell this hot dog for a buck fifty. We are losing our rear ends.’ And he said, ‘If you raise the effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out.’ That’s all I really needed."

Yikes! Costco then ended up building its own hot dog manufacturing plant in Los Angeles to make Kirkland Signature hot dogs and keep the price lower!

Would you be upset if the price of Costco hot dogs changed?
