Los Angeles County just hit the state milestone for allowing elementary schools to reopen.

LA County schools obtained a waiver to reopen earlier in the year and will be first to bring back elementary students. Teachers agree that it's been hard to teach from home especially with Zoom difficulties.

According to the news release by the LA County Department of Public Health, it stated "The state permits elementary schools to reopen as soon as we reach an adjusted case rate of 25 per 100,000.We are informing Los Angeles County schools tonight via an emailed letter that we expect to announce we have reached this threshold effective Tuesday, February 16."

Even though numbers are declining, the virus is still present and circulating. Residents are still urged to remain cautious. Just last week the CDC released reopening guidelines that focus on the five key COVID-19 strategies which are the correct wearing of masks, physical distancing, washing hands, cleaning facilities and improving ventilation.
