Lightening Strike On Highway Causes Chunk Of Road To Fly Through Windshield

A lightening strike in the Florida Panhandle led to two people injured inside a vehicle.

The driver of a pickup truck was heading east on Interstate 10 near DeFuniak Springs in Florida where a bolt of lightening struck the roadway. Walton Country Fire Rescue reported that it caused a chunk of the road to break off and fly through the windshield of the truck. The two people inside the car were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries. Fire rescue officials did not specify the extent of their injuries.

The photos provided by the agency show the gaping hole in the front windshield and the rear window also shattered.
