Since the CDC announced that vaccinated people no longer have to wear face coverings indoors, stores have taken action.
Under the new federal guidelines, anyone who is two weeks or more past their final vaccination can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, without a mask of social distancing. Their new guidelines caught many people off guard in California. Some felt it was a premature move and could hurt front-line workers, others felt it was about time.
Now, retailers are taking different approaches. Trader Joe's, Walmart and Costco will no longer require fully vaccinated shoppers to wear masks. Trader Joe's updated their COVID-19 guidance on Friday to say that it continues to review federal, state and local health advisories to adjust efforts where it makes sense. Starting on Tuesday, Walmart employees who are fully vaccinated will also have the option of working without a mask. As for Costco, their President stated in an open letter that they still recommend wearing a mask. Stores like Home Depot and Walgreens are keeping their mask requirements in place.
