40 years after Charles and Diana's wedding, their wedding cake is officially going up for auction.
On August 11th, a 28-ounce slice of the wedding cake is expected to go for at least $700! Yup, you heard that correctly, $700 for a slice of wedding cake! The white marzipan cake has the royal coat of arms decorated into the cake, covered in gold, red, blue and silver. It's one of the original 27 cakes that were handed out during the royal wedding on July 29th, 1981.
The piece up for auction was given to Moyra Smith, a member of Queen Elizabeth's household at Clarence House. It was was stored in a floral cake tin with a label on top reading "Handle With Care-Prince Charles & Princess Diane’s [sic] wedding cake, with the date “29/7/81.”
