He said he doesn't even own a place right now. Elon literally stays at friends' places. He says if he travels to the Bay Area where most of Tesla's engineering is he basically rotates through friends' spare bedrooms.
Grimes, the mother of two of his children told Vanity Fair, they lived in a very insecure $40,000 house.
At one point Elon had a mattress with a hole in it and didn't want to buy a new one.
