Remember we told you about Brody Miller, 12, who came home from school with only a few signatures in his school yearbook. He also was one of his entries and wrote too himself.
"Hope you make some more friends,"
Cassandra Ridder, Brody's mom didn't want to see her son sad over the bulling he had experienced at school
"Parents need to teach their children kindness, open up that dialogue. And if you see your child being mean to somebody else, talk to them about how that could possibly make them feel. Talk to them about intent versus impact," Ridder said.
She didn't want to see his sad so she shared the story with a parents group on Facebook
"My poor son. Doesn't seem like it's getting any better. 2 teachers and a total of 2 students wrote in his yearbook. Despite Brody asking all kinds of kids to sign it. So Brody took it upon himself to write to himself. My heart is shattered Teach your kids kindness."
Mom did her part and took it to social media and got students from the local high schools to sign and fill up his yearbook Not only did local students but she also received messages from major companies and even celebrities like Paul Rudd, who plays character Ant-Man from Avengers film and Ant-Man. Rudd took the time to Facetime Brody as well as send him a handwritten note. That read,
"It's important to remember that even when life gets tough that things get better. There are so many people that love you and think you are the coolest kid there is — me being one of them!"
That's not the only thing that he received, Rudd sent him his very own Ant-Man helmet.
"We put it in one of those little helmet cases," Cassandra said. "Now he's storing it in his room, displaying it. He's so proud of it."
Brody is still reading the letter that he received after others heard his story. His mom is super grateful for the support that he has been receiving since the story went viral. She is currently working with nonprofits to help with a anti bully campaign to bring awareness to the cause.
Brody has since then made many friends and it was all thanks to that Facebook post.
"He is just over the moon," Cassandra said. "He is so excited. He feels hopeful for next year. He's excited to try to put himself out there to make more friends."
