For The First Time Ever, A Los Angeles Dodger Has Won The Home Run Derby! ⚾

Teoscar Hernández etched his name into Dodgers history as the first Dodger to claim the MLB Home Run Derby crown last night! The 31-year-old outfielder’s journey to victory was no walk in the park—more like a moonshot over the center-field wall. Hernández, once overlooked, lobbied his way into the derby lineup, and when the spotlight shone brightest, he delivered. With 49 homers across three rounds, totaling nearly 4 miles of baseball flight, he left no doubt: Dodger blue runs deep, and Hernández is the star of the show. As he stood on that Texas mound, Dino Ebel (the same coach who once threw to Vlad Guerrero Sr.) watched Hernández’s shoulders, feeding him pitches that became fireworks. And when the final blast clanked off the wall, Hernández’s grin said it all: “I’m here, and I’m as talented as all those guys over there.” The derby chain was placed around his neck as his family came to celebrate on the field with him. 🚀⚾️🏆

The Dodgers are back at Dodger Stadium this Friday night and take on the Red Sox with first pitch at 7pm. Listen to every play of every Dodgers game on AM 570 LA Sports live from the Galpin Motors Broadcast Booth and stream all games in HD on the iHeartRadio app, keyword: AM 570 LA Sports.

The Hernández Homer Parade: 49 Bombs and Counting!

Hernández’s power-packed performance left jaws dropping and baseballs soaring. With a jaw-dropping total of 49 homers throughout the competition, he proved that Dodger blue runs deep in his veins. Analysts were left wondering if he had secretly replaced his bat with a magic wand.

Ohtani’s Elbow and the Missing Stars

Dodgers fans missed seeing Shohei Ohtani’s moonshots. The two-way phenom had voiced interest in competing but decided to rest his elbow instead. Hernández and Ohtani will reunite on Tuesday during the MLB All-Star Game, where they’ll share the field with fellow Dodgers Freddie Freeman and Will Smith.

Betts and Glasnow Benched

Shortstop Mookie Betts and pitcher Tyler Glasnow, both 2024 National League All-Stars, won’t lace up their cleats for the All-Star Game. Maybe they’re saving their energy for a post-game salsa dance-off. Either way, Dodger fans hope they’ll be back in action soon.
