Hello Kitty’s 50th Anniversary at Universal Studios Hollywood City Walk

Universal Studios Hollywood is getting ready to celebrate Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary with new food items and merchandise at Hello Kitty and Friends Café and Sanrio Smile Shop at CityWalk, home to the first Hello Kitty and Friends Café in Los Angeles County.

The café will introduce three new treats for the 50th anniversary: the 50th anniversary cake with chocolate ganache, buttercream, crispy pearls and a pink bow; the 50th cookie sandwich, a Hello Kitty-themed cookie sandwich with raspberry filling and a glittery logo; and the sparkling 50th drink, a strawberry soda with coconut cream, strawberry powder and edible glitter.

“We really wanted to take in the iridescence of Hello Kitty. So, if you look at all of her 50th line and even her new outfit, it’s all got that iridescent color. So we wanted to make sure that we also brought that shimmer into the food,” Universal Studios Hollywood executive chef Julia Thrash, who prepared the new food lineup, told KTLA.
The 50th anniversary also brought the debut of two new treats, hot chocolate and mocha bow bombs, which will be core fixtures on the menu, according to Thrash.

The café has their grab-and-go sugary treats that also include a macaron set, Hello Kitty cookies and beverages.

Hello Kitty 50th anniversary merchandise at Sanrio Smile Shop includes Hello Kitty T-shirts, plush, ceramic mugs, tumblers, notepads, hats, aprons, signs, stationery kits, lanyards, cell phone bags and backpacks.

Hello Kitty will debut a pastel pink dress as she greets guests by the Animation Studio Store in the Upper Lot inside the theme park.

Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary celebration will run from Nov. 1 until Dec. 31.
