Owl Flies into Home and Lands on Christmas Tree

A family from Arlington, Virginia got a surprise visit from someone coming down their chimney Thursday and it wasn’t Santa Claus.

Instead, it was a barred owl.

The big bird flew into the family’s house, spotted their Christmas tree and made himself a nicer tree topper than the one they already had.

After the owl knocked the star over and perched himself on top of the tree, the family called animal control to help get him out. Sgt. Murray with the Animal Welfare League of Arlington was able to capture the feathered intruder and release him back safely into the wild.

This story is a reminder to keep your chimneys capped during the winter months.
