A Michigan man was stuck waist down in what was almost quicksand. He was not injured but left with something unexcepted... a girlfriend. Mitchell O'Brien and Breanne Sika were looking for Leland blue stones at Reynolds Street Beach when O'Brien stepped a few feet past the shoreline and began to sink. He said it didn't even look bad and seemed to be firm enough to walk on. He's actually experienced this before on the Great Lakes and got out by turning and lying down on his backside. However in this situation, it was more difficult and sticky. After 15 minutes, he was still stuck and couldn't more his left leg at all. The two co-workers both called 911 and explained each other as their girlfriend/boyfriend but without the other knowing. It was the first time they admitted their feelings and it happened to be to the two separate phone operators. Firefighters arrived to the scene and were able to pull O'Brien to safety. Situations like this are rare but signs are now being posted around the area to warn visitors of the quicksand.
