Disney Raises Prices for Daily, Annual Park Passes

Starting this Sunday, “The Happiest Place on Earth” is getting pricier.

The company has recently confirmed that tickets into any of Disney’s U.S. parks will increase in price.

For Disneyland in Anaheim, California, single-day tickets will cost $97, $110, or $124. This is a slight increase from the previous $95, $105, or $119. The differing prices are Disney’s efforts to control overcrowding during the parks’ busiest times.

Annual prices are also seeing an extra penny. The Platinum pass now costs $779, a $30 increase. The Platinum Plus pass, which grants ticketholders access to Disney World’s water parks in addition to its four theme parks, will increase by $40 for a new total cost of $869.

A spokesperson said in an email that the price change in order to “better manage demand” and “is reflective of the distinctly Disney offerings at all of our parks.”

The rise in prices could bring some extra income that Disney has been losing since the company announced the $2 billion they have put into their only European theme park, Disneyland Paris, which has recently struggled.

In another statement, a spokesperson for Disney said, “If you compare our pricing to other forms of family entertainment – from football games to golf events to ski passes, major concerts—we offer a great value for the money. Guests can enjoy a full day of entertainment (up to 16 hours) when at Disney Parks.”
