One 51-year-old Georgia women is currently recovering after a shark bit her left thigh while swimming off the Floridian Atlantic coast.
Last Wednesday, Melanie Lawson and her kids went for a dip off the shore. She even forewarned her children not to go any further than three feet while at New Smyrna Beach. While swimming, Lawson said she felt something hit her and knock her over, and that was when she started to feel the pain.
Lawson has since been to taken to a hospital for treatment. She and her family are headed back to their hometown of Marietta, in North Atlanta, this Thursday.
Tammy Marris, the Volusia County beach safety spokeswoman, says it's the second shark bite reported this year. As for Melanie, she says she would swim in the ocean again, but it might be a while until then.
