A Star Wars fanatic with with steep pockets paid $3 million for R2-D2!
An auction house in Calabasas, California sold the droid which was assembled from original parts used in Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, and Attack of the Clones. The auction house originally estimated it would sell between $1 million and $2 million. The buyer's name is being kept private (via The Wrap).
