Dictionary.com Reveals The Word Of The Year!

Dictionary.com just released their 2017 Word of the Year! Any guesses?!

The word of the year is... Complicit.

The online dictionary made the big announcement on social media, first joking that the word was covfefe - the word made infamous from a Donald Trump tweet.

The website defines complicit as “choosing to be involved in an illegal or questionable act, especially with others; having partnership or involvement in wrongdoing.” They explained that their choice was based upon events and trends that occurred this year - "conversations this year about those who speak out against powerful figures and institutions and about those who stay silent."

The word saw its first spike in usage on March 12th when SNL aired a bit about Ivanka Trump selling a perfume called Complicit. Dictionary.com saw a 10,000% increase in searches for the word on its site.
