California Teacher Fired After Anti-Military Rant

A high school teacher in California has been fired after students recorded him calling members of the military the "lowest of the low".

According to NBC LA, El Rancho Unified School District unanimously decided to part ways with history teacher Gregory Salcido after thousands of emails from veterans and relatives of military personnel flooded the school board. Salcido, who is also a City Council member, apologized at a council meeting in February for the January 25th statements such as, "Think about the people who you know who are over there. Your freaking stupid Uncle Louie or whatever. They’re dumbs‑‑‑s," and "They’re not like high-level thinkers, they’re not academic people, they’re not intellectual people. They’re the lowest of our low."

News of the rant had reached Washington DC, with White House Chief of Staff John Kelly telling Fox News Radio that Salcido, "ought to go to hell."

Should the school board have fired the teacher for expressing an opinion in the classroom?
