Study Says: Coffee Is Good For Your Heart

Some studies say that coffee may cause cancer, some research says that if you have an irregular heartbeat you should avoid caffeine. So I take this new study with a grain of salt...but new research states that it may not be harmful to the heart.

In fact, researchers have suggested that the stimulant may actually be linked to improved heart function. But, its the form in which you consume caffeine that plays a significant role.

You can read the entire review published in Clinical Electrophysiology (a journal of the American College of Cardiology). But what it says is that "caffeinated beverages such as coffee and tea may have long-term anti-arrhythmic properties," according to lead researcher Dr. Peter Kistler. "In numerous population-based studies, patients who regularly consume coffee and tea at moderate levels have a lower lifetime risk of developing heart rhythm problems and possibly improved survival."

The study does recommed that patients with pre-existing heart conditions should avoid energy drinks. But, 3 cups of coffee a day? Not a big deal if you don't have a pre-existing heart condition. So, excuse me while I go grab another cup!
