Hands 4 Hope LA With Executive Director Lydia Floyd

Hands for Hope LA is non-profit organization, provides a safe , nurturing environment where children from low income or single parent households can build selfesteem and develop supportive relationships through academic and creative endeavors so they can become engaged, happy and successful adults.

Hands4Hope LA provides support to at-risk youth ages 8 to 18 from low-income, predominantly minority households to improve their quality of life, through free STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) after-school programs, low cost academic summer camp, and semiannual single parent resource fairs.

Programs

Out-of-school time programs improve student outcomes – academic achievement, school attendance and behaviors. The best programs offer thoughtful combinations of services that best suit the particular needs of the community they serve.

Since 2000, H4H has offered the safe environment desperately needed in the out-of-school times between 2:30 and 7pm on school days, and all day during the summer. Parents in our local neighborhood are grateful for the no-cost opportunities we provide, because they would otherwise be forced to leave their children unattended and unsupervised afterschool, and hope for the best.

Our After School Programs consists of after school care for at risk youth ages 8-18, offering `a variety of activities to engage the youth including educational and social mentoring, nutritional snacks, enriching field trips and: Academic Assistance – Tutoring, Homework Assistance, College Planning, and Disguised Learning Games Arts Education - Music, Drama, Filmmaking, Playwriting, Voice, Photography, Recording, Dance and Visual Art  Healthy Lifestyles - Physical Fitness, Tai Chi, Yoga, Kickboxing, Cooking and Nutrition  Life Skills – Entrepreneurial & Career Development, Computers, Leadership, Driver Safety, Environment and Financial Literacy
