Avicii's Death Caused Twitter To Shut Down

The entire world turned to social media moments after learning that EDM recording artist, Avicii passed away. Not only did celebrities like Liam Payne, Calvin Harris and Zedd express their remorse, but fans also shared their sorrow. 

In fact, there were so many tweets that Twitter couldn't handle the overload of users on their platform after the tragic news broke. Tweets could not be sent out and re-tweeting was unavailable.

The Swedish DJ quit performing live last year. He had this statement on his website:

"We all reach a point in our lives and careers where we understand what matters the most to us. For me it's creating music. That is what I live for, what I feel I was born to do. Last year I quit performing live, and many of you thought that was it. But the end of live never meant the end of Avicii or my music. Instead, I went back to the place where it all made sense--the studio."

Avicii has been nominated for a Grammy twice, once in 2012 for "Sunshine" with David Guetta and in 2013 with his song "Levels." You may recognize these songs as some of his more radio friendly:
