Mommy Monday: 5 Natural Face Masks

Between work, taking care of your kids, pets, friends, and trying to maintain a social life, life can get very stressful and very busy. However, it's important to take the time to yourself and make sure to relax and take care of yourself. The last thing anyone wants is for their skin to break out due to stress!

Using a good face mask can be one of the most satisfying and relaxing feelings any of us has and it could be needed at the end of a long day. These face masks are all very easy to make as long as you have the common ingredient: honey! All other ingredients are things you'll find in your kitchen, so save some time and money and use some tasty food to create a soothing face mask.

1. Banana

For this face mask, all you have to do is mash up a banana and mix it with 1 tablespoon of honey, and you're all done. This mix is particularly good for oily skin and can be spread onto your face for 10-15 minutes.

Note: If the consistency is too thick and hard to spread onto your skin, try adding a tablespoon of orange juice for a more smooth application.

2. Cinnamon and Nutmeg

1 tablespoon of honey mixed with 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg will create another face mask to combat oily skin. If you are one of those more fortunate with no immediate skin issues, this mix is still great to maintain an even tone and prevent oil from building up. Leave this mask on for 20 minutes before removing it with a warm cloth or towel.

The cherry on top of this face mask mixture is the fact that it can double as a simple sweetener for Chai tea!

Note: Be careful with this mix if you have sensitive skin! Try testing it on your arm before applying it to your face, so your skin does not break out.

3. Avocado

Another simple mixture! This time, mash up 1/2 of an avocado and mix it with 2 tablespoons of honey to create a face mask that is good for all types of skin. While anyone can use it, you may like it more if you have dry skin, as it is extremely hydrating.

Spread this mixture across your face and let it sit for 20 minutes in order to fully hydrate and rejuvenate your skin.

4. Egg Yolk, Oatmeal...and Olive Oil

Head towards your breakfast foods for part of this mix...but make sure to keep the olive oil nearby! Mixing together 1 egg yolk, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and half a cup of oatmeal will create a face mask mixture that's good for dry and sensitive skin types!

Make sure this combination is evenly mixed and leave it on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing it with cool water for the best results!

5. Orange Juice

Mix together 3 tablespoons of orange juice with a quarter cup of honey to give your dry skin a more hydrated and glowing feel and look! Leave this mask on for 15 minutes before rinsing with cool water, and enjoy your fresh skin.

Note: Some combinations can irritate certain skin types, especially mixtures with that combine harder foods and spices. So, be sure to do a trial run by rubbing the mixtures on your inner arm before applying it to your face.

Also, be aware of any allergies you might have and stay clear of those ingredients!
