Christmas is around the corner!
Trade wars are heating up and many are freaked about the economy. An indication of trouble ahead can be the number of retail chains that are closing stores.
Have a look at the list of stores that have closed doors in 2019!
This is crazy!
Do you shop at any of these stores, which are you sad to see go?!
- Nordstrom
Closing four stores as customers shun their incredible personal service for online and cheap fashion stores
- Macys
They’ve slowly been closing stores in areas that where the investment is not viable. Four more closings this year.
- Target
Target? What? Yup. Again closing 6 stores in non-profitable areas. Good news is they have plans to open up another 20. Breathe easy.
- Kohl’s
Already a discount store but despite the deals 8 stores closed their doors this year.
- Top Shop
Such a huge hit when they opened in 2009 they are completely leaving the U.S. after filing for bankruptcy. My kid loved their stores.
- Walmart
Yes the biggest retailer in the country is scaling back shutting 17 stores this year. A warning to the economy?
- J.C. Penny
My go to store as a kid has fallen on very hard times. Already closing many, many stores another 27 have been on the block to shut down this year.
- Bed Bath and Beyond
My wife and I have a drawer full of mailer coupon from BB&B and love to shop there. Despite that the chain is closing a whopping 40 stores this year. Ouch!
- Z Gallerie
I guess we’re not loving upscale furniture anymore. 44 stores closing after bankruptcy.
- CVS
I love CVS. There seems to be one on every corner. Oh that’s right they’re not Starbucks. You can’t do that for long. 46 stores shut down this year.
- Lowes
Closing 51 home improvement stores. Is that a sign the housing bubble might burst soon?
- Victoria’s Secret
Do you hear the one about women finally deciding they’d rather wear undergarments that are more comfortable? Apparently, VC didn’t. Closing a whopping 53 stores in 2019.
- Jared Jewelry
Diamonds aren’t a girl’s best friend? 150 store closings this year.
- Starbucks
I take back what I said about CVS. You can have too many Starbucks. 150 closed in 2019.
- Gap
Not as cool as it used to be for shoppers, but Old Navy is picking up the slack. Goodbye 230 Gap stores.
- Payless
We’ve loved Payless for a couple of generations. What happened? Deep discount by competitors that sold more than shoes to make up the difference forced Payless into bankruptcy in 2017. Didn’t work. Bye bye to 2100 stores.
