Helpful Resources If You Are Dealing With Grief And Loss

Yesterday's news was a HUGE blow to so many of us. Even if you weren't a Laker fan, or even a basketball fan- the thought of someone's family being ripped apart by something so sudden, and tragic, is heart breaking. Kobe Bryant- NBA MVP with a 20-year career with the Lakers- and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were killed yesterday in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. There were 9 people total on the plane, including Orange Coast College baseball coach, John Altobelli, and his wife and daughter, and Christina Mauser, assistant coach at Mamba Sports Academy.

This was heartbreaking on so many levels. I can't even IMAGINE what their families are going through. How do you go on, when one day your beloveds are in your life, and the next instant, they are gone forever? I can't even imagine. I am fortunate enough to have not experienced this kind of tragedy, but it is common, and unfortunately, is is part of life. I've posted some resources, below, on how to heal and process grief. One of my favorite posts ever written was by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of "Eat, Pray, Love" when she lost her beloved, Rayya, to cancer in 2018. She said, "The only way that I can “handle” Grief, then, is the same way that I “handle” Love — by not “handling” it. By bowing down before its power, in complete humility."
