Unlikely Sighting: Coyote and Badger Go on a Midnight Stroll

An adventurous video was posted to twitter this week showing a sight never before seen in the San Francisco area. The Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) was able to use a wildlife camera to capture an unlikely friendship between a coyote and a badger. The video shows the excited coyote helping to escort the badger through a tunnel. POST mentioned that while badger sighting enough are uncommon, "seeing one with a coyote moving through a small space like this is unusual."

The original poster followed up the tweet, stating that it is common for badgers and coyotes to hunt together as the two have common interest.

"Studies have shown that a badger and coyote hunting together can be beneficial for both species, as they pursue favorite prey such as ground squirrels. Maybe that's where they're headed?"

The trust added that "It's a real treat when we get videos like this that show some personality and remind us of the relationships between wild animals and how playful they can be."

Love it!
