As a woman, the lyrics and symbolism in this video are BEYOND on-point. "I'm so sick of running as fast as I can/Wondering if I'd get there quicker/If I was a man."
I can't TELL you how many times I've thought that. As a stand-up comedian, I've had a couple of male-comedians say, "Your material focuses around dating, right?" I've been doing comedy for 20+ years...but when I talk about relationships, it's "dating" material. When a guy does the same- whether it's about dating/marriage or relationships, it's just part of his act. Nobody puts it into a 'dating' category.
SO many things to pick up on in this video.....first, in case you didn't know it, the "man" in the video IS Taylor! (I know- how'd they get her legs to be so hairy??) Her dad makes a cameo on the tennis court. "The Rock" did some voice-over for her at the end of the video. Also, around the 1:00 mark, look for the Scooter Braun reference.
My favorite scene in this video is the dad at the park with his child....trust me, you'll love it. Enjoy!
