Teens Create Helpful Hotline For Isolated Seniors With Jokes And Stories!

I have a soft spot in my heart for senior citizens. I'm an only child and my parents are in their 70's. (76, to be exact.) While I am EXTREMELY lucky they are in good health, I worry about them all the time- especially now. I don't want them to ever feel sick, lonely, like a burden, etc. I want them to always feel like they have outlets; for entertainment, social activities and people who love them.

That's why I really love this story. Over the last few days, the Joy4All Project was created by students from the Ever Active Schools recreational program, which is run by the Calgary Board of Education. Their mission? To bring joy to isolated seniors across North America. They created a free hotline 1-877-JOY-4ALL- that's updated with jokes, stories, guided meditations, and educational messages. They encouraged anyone who feels lonely to give the hotline a call, but it was created specifically for senior citizens.

They'll be updating their content through June, One of their teachers, Jamie Anderson, said, "We're just trying to fill in some of the gaps and bring them a little joy and levity during these difficult times." If you know someone who could use a special message, click here.
