Diego The Giant Tortoise- Father To 800- Is Finally "Retiring"!

This story made me laugh SO MUCH! I've actually been following Diego's "journey" for a few years on air.....he's quite the Hugh Hefner of tortoises! (too soon?)

So Diego is a tortoise who currently lives on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos, Ecuador- where he's fathered over 800 CHILDREN (tortoise children) since the 1960's! He was actually brought to the island by conservationists to save the species. And that he DID! Diego got down with the ladies....time and time again. He's been "busy" for 87 years!

Now, he is 100 years and retiring to live out his final days in peace on Espanola Island, South America, to live his final days in peace. (I kind of wonder if he's still gonna get it on with anyone though?)

I also learned in this article that Diego was part of a "drafting" program for breeding...and is responsible for 40% of the 2,000 of his species! GET IT DIEGO!
