Some MLB Umpires Opt Out Of 2020 Season Due To COVID-19 Fears

According to the Associated Press, they stated that about 10 Major League Baseball umpires have joined around a dozen players in deciding to opt out of the 2020 season.

Some are opting out because they have family members who are ill. An agreement was reached between the umpires and MLB that they are at risk because of their age, health issues or other reasons that they will continue to get paid if they opt out.

If one regular season game is played, the umpires will receive at least 37.5% of their salaries.
