Grocery stores are now facing a new shortage as a result of COVID-19.
Grocery and convenience stores warned that they may not be able to provide coins as change when customers pay in cash due to a nationwide coin shortage. Due to coronavirus related shutdowns, fewer coins are circulating throughout the economy which is leaving stores short on nickels and dimes.
Many stores are now encouraging their customers to pay with exact change or offering programs through which customers are able to donate their change to charity.
