Kobe Bryant's lasting legacy will be celebrated with the unveiling of a statue outside the Crypto.com Arena on February 8, 2024, paying tribute to the late Lakers star. The date, 2/8/24, holds special significance, as it symbolizes Bryant's iconic jersey numbers, 8 and 24, and is chosen in honor of his daughter Gianna, whose jersey number was 2. The statue joins those of other Lakers legends on the Star Plaza, and its design was a collaborative effort between Vanessa Bryant, Kobe's widow, and the Lakers organization. The unveiling will be a restricted event held before the Lakers game, where the team will wear their 'Black Mamba' uniforms in homage to Bryant's impactful career. The sculpture's design was crafted by the talented duo Julie Roblatt-Amrany & Omri Amrany who have previously created all Lakers statues outside the arena. Bryant's remarkable career, marked by 20 seasons with the Lakers and numerous accolades, culminated in his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021, solidifying his place as an NBA icon. The new Kobe Bryant sculpture will be open to the public on Friday, 2/9/2024 at 10am. Listen to our call with Julie Rotblatt Amrany:
