If you are looking to adopt a dog, you may want to consider this! The U.S. Air Force is having a hard time finding homes for their retired military working dogs.
At the ages of 10-12 is when they usually retire. The Air Force has really been struggling to find homes for their older dogs.
These military dogs are trained at an Air Force Base located in San Antonio. When it comes to military dogs, the most common breeds are German Shepherds, Labrador retrievers and Belgian Malinois.
If you are worried about adopting one of these dogs for behavior reasons, have no worries! Before each dog is retired, they perform a behavioral test to make sure they won't be aggressive or bite a small child.
In order to adopt, it's suggested you don't have any children in your home under the age of 5 years old and will visit San Antonio to pick up the new furry member of your family!
