Moms' Hilarious Back-To-School Photo Shoot Involves Wine And Laughs

Every year towards the end of summer, we start to see those "back to school" promos. Some parents are sad and other parents celebrate. Well, this year, four Florida moms are celebrating in a creative way. A photo shoot that was done for fun went viral and the internet is getting a good laugh.

Owner of Wee Winks Photography in Minneola, Shawna Genua, reached out to three of her neighborhood mom friends: Bridgett Brown, Jennifer Patterson and Robyn Pedretti Kelly, the night before their kids' first day back to school. She asked them to put on their robes, grab some wine and chairs, and meet in her driveway for a photo shoot.

Pedretti Kelly, the woman on the right with the huge glass of wine you can't miss, told HuffPost “Of course, we all said yes! We all posted [the photos] the next morning and thought it was just a fun thing for us to do for ourselves. And then it took off like we never imagined.” She continued to say “Sure, we’ll miss our kids, but parents need a break after busy summers.”

After seeing so many posts on social media from parents about sending their kids back to school, it inspired Genua to put together this photo shoot.

In the photos, you can see the moms posing with various sized wine glasses, beer bottles, a donut box, and a sign that reads “First day of school 2019. #ByeFelicia.” (Kelly shared that it was actually fruit punch, not wine, in the glasses.)

Genua posted the photos she took on Facebook and captioned them “Some of you are sad. This is me and my girls. We will be juuuuuuust fine.”

Between all four women, they have 18 kids. Kelly said the teenagers of the group were at first “mortified” by the photo shoot, but quickly had a change of heart after it went viral on social media. She said “Once it went viral, we suddenly became the ‘cool moms!’”

The majority of responses to these photos have been positive, but there have been a few negative comments like “get a job.” Kelly said in response “To them, we say, ‘We DO have a job — we’re moms. That’s the hardest job in the world!’ Plus, two of us have jobs outside of being a mom. I personally have three jobs!”

She also said “We love our kids more than life itself, but we also need to take a break and laugh sometimes.”
