Mattel Launches ‘Día de los Muertos' Barbie Doll For ‘Day of the Dead'

In honor of Día de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead,” Mattel is releasing a limited-edition Barbie doll that will be in stores this month!

“Barbie Día de Muertos” is toymaker Mattel's latest release. It is clothed in a beautiful, floor-length, black velvet dress embroidered with colorful butterflies, flowers, and skulls. The Barbie doll also has an elaborate crown and her wardrobe is complimented by her calavera (skull), which is created with a beautiful face paint to represent the dead.

This Mexican holiday begins on September 12th and runs through November 2nd and is for friends and family to honor and celebrate their loved ones who have passed. Traditionally, families gather to pray together, enjoy food, and often visit cemeteries to decorate graves with ofrendas (altars).

This limited-edition Barbie will be for sale starting this Thursday at Walmart and Amazon for $75.
