A 6-year-old boy from Minnesota, Ethan Haus, got off the bus after school to play with his siblings and the family dog.
The family dog was a spaniel named Remington and him and Ethan are inseparable.
Later that afternoon when Ethan and Remington never returned home, their family began to panic. I t was getting darker and the temperature outside was cooling down to the low 40s.
A community-wide search for the two quickly began. Over 600 volunteers came together including law enforcement agencies like the FBI, K-9 units, and a state patrol helicopter. They tore their way through the dense, Minnesota cornfields.
At this point, 10 hours had passed since Ethan and Remington went missing.
Drone operator and owner of Fines Aerial Imaging, Steve Fines, had never used his technology to try and find a missing person before. But he said “couldn’t go to bed knowing that I hadn’t done something” to try and help.
Fines joined the search party around 9 p.m. and used his thermal camera to target one of the big cornfields. A "bright spot" appeared on his camera and it showed everyone what they'd spent hours searching for...Ethan and Remington!
