How To Survive Self Isolation According To Your Love Language

Due to the “Safer at Home” order, a lot of relationships are being tested. If you’re under quarantine with your significant other, or alone, it’s important to know and act on your own and each other’s love language to survive this self-isolation. Here are the 5 love languages and what you can do with them to show your affection!

1. Physical Touch: Since we have to follow the 6 feet away rule, you should spend 10 minutes before bed slowly stroking your own face, head, neck, arms, legs and feet. You can also hug a pillow to take the place if cuddles!

2. Words of Affirmation: Check in each day with a few people and let them know how much they mean to you and what you admire about them.

3. Quality Time: Set aside time to have regular video calls together, which usually feel more intimate than phone calls. You can share meals together over FaceTime or Zoom.

4. Acts of Service: Ask higher risk groups if you could pick up their medications or essential groceries.

5. Gifts: Could you buy any necessities for friends, family, or those at higher risk? You can also help support small business or donate to a charity.

A bonus tip: Try to remember birthdays and other meaningful anniversaries during this time. We all need mood boosters on days that are meant to be celebrations, now more than ever!
