As the saying goes Mother knows best right, well at least according to Doug Weaver. Whos is going viral on Tiktok for sharing a class his mom created for him and his brothers titled "Husbands in Training." As teens she was teaching her sons the ins an outs of what it takes to be a good husband, now that he's an adult he took her curriculum to social media shocked by the response that he received from the platform.
"When I was a kid, my mom did this thing for me and my two older brothers called 'Husbands in Training,'" he explained in the video. "It was a full, multiple-level curriculum on how to be a better husband."
"Husbands in Training" covered a wide range of topics for etiquette to chivalry. Despite taking these lessons early on in life its still very fresh in his mind.
"There was a lot of really good stuff in that curriculum," said Doug, looking back. "There were things like what to do if your spouse says something and the information they give is wrong. How to handle it if they say something wrong in public versus in private, when it is appropriate to correct them and when it isn't."
Doug said his mom Mickey aka Nana Mickey wasn't like the other moms, touching on those lessons and topics every growing boy should have about the body and growing up.
"We talked about consent, we talked about the basics of respecting and honoring women and listening to women, and all of the things that really just make you a decent human being," Doug explained in the clip.
Doug and his brothers weren't the only ones benefiting from these lessons, their dad also decided to support the cause and became a new student to the lessons Nana Mickey was putting on for the boys.
"So, he decided he also wanted to take 'husbands in training,'" Doug shared.
Once they completed all the lessons they would continue on to graduation and going into the real world.
"My mom even made certificates of completion that she signed and gave to each of us on our wedding day," he shared in his TikTok.
"I gotta say, my brothers and I are all married and I think all three of our wives really appreciate the hard work that my mom did trying to raise some decent men," he shared.
Since Doug went viral he has had over 5million views and comments loving the content and wanting more.
Despite been given these lessons early on it took Doug a while to get her advice right.
"It started out with my mom jokingly calling us her 'little husbands in training' and evolved from there," he told the news outlet.
"The moment that we realized that we were being instructed and not simply having conversations with my mom is when she had us watch videos on eating etiquette. That’s when it felt official. After that, there were occasional worksheets and quizzes."
They even said there were times where the lessons actually felt like work.
"It was a lot of introspection, skills assessment, personality typing, etc.," Doug explained, "which would lead to discussions about so many other topics."
Mom didn't have all the tips and lessons from the start, over time she developed more things she thought would be useful for them to know. She would find inspiration from friends and family, reading books, listening to radio etc.
"On the way home from school, she would start the conversation, and then later at dinnertime she would say 'Okay, let's go over my notes,'" Doug relayed. "It was everything from statistics about marriage, learning each other’s love languages, communication strategies, manners, common SAT test questions, etc."
Best mom award goes to Nana Mickey ... Am I right?
