The year was 1966 and two best friend launched a message in a bottle in hopes of finding a boyfriend now, 56 years later their message has been received. A group of people cleaning up a river in England came across the bottle. They found a note written by Jennifer Colman and Janet Blankey both 15 when they wrote the message. The letter was dated Aug 9, 1966 and was written with hopes of finding boyfriends.
The note even listed the age requirements, they were asking single boys between the age of 16 and 18 to write back to them. The group that found the bottle did some research and were able to get in contact with Coleman on Facebook.
Coleman had relocated to Australia after finishing school, which happened to be near by where the bottle was found.
"I think it must have gone out a little way, and then came in on the next tide," Coleman told the BBC.
I guess it wasn't friends forever for these two, since her and Janet are no longer in contact. Jennifer eventually found love at the age of 49.
