Dog Leads Police To His Owner Who's Been Missing For A Week

Gregorio Romero, 84, left his home to go for a walk on November 27, 2022, in Moctezuma, Mexico when he got lost.

His family became concerned when he didn't return after a few days and notified the authorities. His niece, Ramona, was particularly worried because her uncle suffers from memory loss.

Authorities spent one week searching for Romero with trained sniffer dogs but could not locate his whereabouts. That's when they turned to his best friend, El Palomo, a dog.

El Palomo ended up finding his owner, just two miles away from his home. Romero was then taken to a local hospital where he received care for dehydration and malnutrition.

El Palomo was waiting right outside the hospital doors the entire time.

“El Palomo remained by the hospital door day and night waiting for the recovery of his beloved Don Goyo [Gregorio],” said authorities.

After the hospital stay, Romero went outside for a little bit of sunshine and El Palomo was right next to him, just as a loyal dog and a man's best friend would be.

“The unconditional love of his pet allowed Don Goyo [Gregorio] to be reunited with his family, because it was El Palomo who led the authorities to where he was,” touted the police.
