There's plenty of Cinco de Mayo events with festive foods and drinks such as tacos, nachos, beer and margaritas to enjoy all weekend long.
But in the last few years, a few restaurants have been adding Cinco de Mayo daytime treats to the menu.
Finding inspiration from the May celebration, chef Rick Martinez, the author of "Mi Cocina: Recipes and Rapture from my Kitchen in Mexico," has created a horchata-inspired doughnut that features fresh rhubarb, strawberries sourced locally, and, a drizzle of horchata made in-house. Only available from May 5 to June 8 for $5 at Holey Grail Donuts.
Chef Martinez's flavorful festive collaboration with the bakery will raise money for The Ali Forney Center, "a non-profit organization founded in 2002, fighting homelessness for LGBTQ+ youth around the country."
But if you're in the mood for a treat with a kick to it, head over to Randy's Donuts for their bake tasty TajĂn premium doughnuts from May 1 through 31.
The special donut is filled with mango, and topped with the fruit, too, with TajĂn seasoning on the doughnut's top.
It's $3.75 and the icing is flavored with TajĂn, too.
Enjoy these two Cinco de Mayo treats while they last.
