Best friends Lauren Hamilton and Madison Walters are both due to give birth in early December and wanted to find the right time to tell each other the good news.
The besties were so in sink that they thought of the same idea for their pregnancy reveal. So while they were on a double date with their spouses, Lauren reached for a bottle of wine.
The friends met on Bumble BFF three years ago but hadn't seen each other in a while. So, when Hamilton found out she was pregnant seven weeks earlier, she wanted to surprise Walters in a creative way by incorporating their love of wine nights into the reveal.
When Hamilton, 27, handed Walters, a physician assistant in the cardiology field, the bottle inscribed with the message, "Welcome to the cool aunt club," she saw the delight her friend's face.
Instead of speaking, Walters pulled out a wine bottle from her bag with an identical label. In that moment, the BFFs realized they were pregnant at the same time.
"I didn't even know how to react," Walters, 28, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I was like, 'What? This is just so crazy.' Obviously, we were so excited to tell each other personally, but being able to experience that together was the ultimate surprise."
"It was just excitement, knowing that we were going to go through every step together and realizing we were probably very close in timeline was the biggest gift in the world," adds Hamilton, who works in tech sales. "We're just so lucky to have each other and be able to check in and say, 'Is this normal?' "
Prior to the announcement, the North Carolina locals, who are each expecting their first baby, with their friend Stephanie, who is also currently pregnant, had discussed coordinating their pregnancies.
However, they realized that regardless of their efforts, they decided to let fate decide.
"It honestly ended up working out that our timelines happened to align without us even knowing," Hamilton says. "We just got really, really lucky and it was so exciting."
"They did not know before that night that the other one was pregnant," Walters adds, about their husbands. "But there had been a time where Patrick noticed I wasn't drinking one night and he clocked that, but they had not spoken to each other about it beforehand."
Walters and Hamilton posted a video of the special moment on TikTok to share with friends and family. The video went viral, amassing more than 5 million views.
After it gained so much attention, they decided to devote their social media page to their pregnancy journey as a space for them to remember.
"We've been having a lot of fun with it," Walters says. "It's been fun reading all the comments and hearing from other people who are either in a similar stage of life or have been following our journey."
"We have done a lot together," Hamilton adds. "We obviously talk about everything from our nursery plans to our registries, to just everything getting ready for the baby. One of my favorite things we did was we took a beach weekend with two of our other girlfriends and our other friend Miriam and all of the husbands."
"Besides that, if I've ever had any minor scares or fears or thoughts, our group message is just ever flowing with positive encouragement and sanity checks, which is super useful too," she adds.
Going back to the night of their reveal, the moms-to-be opened their pregnancy apps to compare timelines.
"We both saw Dec. 10 as our due date," Hamilton says. "So we literally had the same exact due date."
"Now my due date is Dec. 8 and Lauren's is Dec. 10, just two days apart," Walters adds. "We really are living the dream and we definitely don't take it for granted. This is so, so lucky."
