Initially, Starbucks introduced its Pumpkin Spice Latte in 2003, marking the beginning of a pumpkin spice frenzy. This led to an explosion of pumpkin spice-themed products, including Pumpkin Spice Spam, Pumpkin Spice doughnuts, and virtually anything pumpkin spice-related. Now, it seems we’ve reached the pinnacle of pumpkin spice innovation: Pumpkin Spice trash bags.
Yes, you read that correctly—trash bags.
Hefty has launched Cinnamon Pumpkin Spice Ultra Strong trash bags, designed to extend the pumpkin spice experience beyond your Pumpkin Spice Slurpee. This isn’t the first time Hefty has offered these scented bags; last year, the limited-edition bags, featuring images of both a pumpkin and what appears to be a pumpkin spice latte on the packaging, sold out within 90 minutes, indicating a high demand for this seasonal item.
The Pumpkin Spice trash bags are currently available on Amazon and will also be found in select Walmart stores as autumn approaches.
Hefty describes these standard 13-gallon garbage bags as having a “secure, break-resistant drawstring and superior durability.” They provide “6-in-1 protection” against leaks, punctures, and rips with their flex strength and patented odor control. These limited-edition bags are expected to sell out quickly on Amazon and will arrive in Walmart stores towards the end of September, just in time for fall.
These trash bags are the ideal accessory for your Pumpkin Spice-Scented Kitty Litter and Pumpkin Spice toilet paper—both of which exist. While pumpkin spice in our trash bins is a recent development, the spice blend itself has been around since the 1700s, with mentions in Amelia Simmons’ 1798 reprint of her cookbook, "American Cookery." By the 1930s, companies like Thompson & Taylor Spice Company and McCormick were packaging it for use in pies, not yet in hot chocolate or pumpkin spice-flavored chewing gum.
Even Dolly Parton has joined the pumpkin spice craze. She’s teamed up with Duncan Hines to create a Pumpkin Spice Cookie Mix for fall, which is somewhat closer to the original baked goods envisioned by early spice users.
While you can grab these pumpkin spice-themed items and many more, Starbucks is still offering its summer menu for now. However, the coffee giant is expected to launch its fall menu soon, so you won’t have to wait much longer to enjoy their seasonal offerings.
