High school sweethearts reconnected and get engaged after more than 70 years apart. Bill Hassinger and Joanne Blakkan,both in their 90s, recently got engaged on Christmas Eve. The couple met in the 1940s and fell in love before going their separate ways. Reasoning being- Blakkan attended Michigan State and Hassinger served in the Korean War. Over the years, the couple fell in love with other people but rekindled in 2022.
Blakkan says her daughter was helping her find former classmates when they came across Hassinger. After chatting on the phone, he drove 80 miles to meet Blakkan for lunch. They said their feelings picked up right where they left them from high school. Right now, they don't know if a wedding is in the future but if it is, it'll be small and intimate. So for now, the couple is focusing on making as memories as they can. Scroll below to meet the couple.
