Actor Steve Carell helps out 800 high school students in Altadena and Pasadena who have been affected by the wildfires. All their prom tickets were taken care of! Carell posted to Instagram sharing he is working with a charity to help out the students. Alice's Kids is a non-profit based out of Virginia that helps provide financial assistance to children in need. The video was shown to six different high schools. Plus, if students already purchased their tickets, they are eligible for a reimbursement. Alice's Kids is donating a total of $175,000 towards the students' tickets.
In January, more than 16,200 structures were taken throughout Los Angeles County due to fires. Each of the six schools were in a community directly affected. Recovery efforts are still in the beginning stages as Governor Newsom requests $16.8 billion from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The charity's executive director says they wanted to help the seniors in any way they can to make prom a happy celebration. The six schools include Marsha Fundamental Secondary School, Pasadena High School, Aveson Charter School, John Muir High School, Rose City High School, and Blair High School. Below is Carell's announcement!
